LifeMD Weight Management FAQS

Prepared for Thin Blue Line (TBL) Benefits Members

What is the LifeMD Weight Management Program?

The LifeMD Weight Management Program is a 360° approach that combines GLP-1 medications, lab testing, and the knowledge of leading clinicians to create a highly effective approach to weight loss. We’ll take your unique metabolic profile and lifestyle habits into account to help ensure you lose the extra weight — one of the most important things you’ll ever do for your health.

Our philosophy revolves around fostering long-term patient-provider partnerships, supported by leading technology, a multi-person care team, and the appropriate medication – that all converge to pave the way for achievable weight loss and long-term wellness.
What do I get when I sign up for the LifeMD Weight Management Program subscription?
As a benefit of joining the Thin Blue Line Benefits Prescription (Rx) Discount Program, members will have discounted access to the LifeMD Weight Management Program. The cost of the subscription is $59, paid monthly (note: this is an exclusive offer for Rx Discount members) and includes:
  • Access to GLP-1 medications: As part of our commitment to offering cutting-edge treatment options, the program includes access to GLP-1 medications. While the cost of medication is not included in the cost of the membership, members of the LifeMD Weight Management Program can begin treatment with compounded semaglutide (the active ingredient in brand name WegovyⓇ) for as low as $13 per weekly dose or compounded tirzepatide (the active ingredient in brand name ZepboundⓇ) for as low as $25 per weekly dose, if medically appropriate.
  • Metabolic (lab) testing: Unlock the secrets to your body’s unique metabolism with our comprehensive metabolic testing, which will help us create a tailored plan that works best for you. All lab work related to your weight management journey is included in the monthly subscription cost if conducted at a local Labcorp or Quest Diagnostics.
  • Ongoing provider care: Expert clinicians will monitor your progress, make adjustments to your treatment plan as needed, and provide continuous care to ensure your long-term success. All consultations and messaging with your care team are included in the monthly subscription cost.
Is medication included in the cost of the program?

The monthly subscription covers the cost of care, including unlimited access to a care team along with metabolic testing. While the cost of medication is separate, members of the LifeMD Weight Management Program can begin treatment with compounded semaglutide (the active ingredient in brand name WegovyⓇ) for as low as $13 per weekly dose or compounded tirzepatide (the active ingredient in brand name ZepboundⓇ) for as low as $25 per weekly dose, if medically appropriate.

Is the LifeMD Weight Management Program completely online?

Yes! Everything — from your initial visit to support from clinicians and ongoing check-ins — can be done right from your computer or smartphone. The only exception may be if lab work is required (at/in-home options may be available; contact the LifeMD care team).

Am I eligible for the program?

Those who may be eligible for medical weight loss are individuals with a BMI > or = to 30, OR individuals with a BMI > or = to 27 with other obesity-related health conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol). Additionally, patients must be 18 years or older and younger than 64 years old. Any additional minimum health requirements will be covered in the medical intake process.

My BMI is 27-30. Is lab work required?

If your body mass index (BMI) falls between the range of 27-29.9, lab work is required to demonstrate a weight-related health condition. Covered lab tests include a cholesterol panel, hemoglobin A1C, complete metabolic panel, and thyroid panel. Required lab work at a local Labcorp or Quest Diagnostics is included in the cost of the program and will be scheduled by your LifeMD care team upon completion of onboarding.

My BMI falls in the range of 25-26.9. What are my options?

While you are not qualified for a GLP-1 treatment, LifeMD offers Triple Therapy. This doctor-trusted treatment plan consists of three medications (Metformin, Bupropion, and Topiramate) combined in carefully selected doses, with the aim of supporting your weight-loss goals. This daily, oral-medication treatment protocol starts at $99/mo (medication included!). This option may be proactively introduced during the medical intake process. Otherwise, please contact the LifeMD care team.

How do I refill my prescription for GLP-1 medication?
You will periodically receive check-ins via the LifeMD patient portal to monitor weight changes and guide your medication titration schedule. At or around the time of your next expected prescription refill, these check-ins will include a quick questionnaire that assists your provider in appropriately renewing your prescription.

For most patients, these check-ins and prescription refills are completed without the need for a video call. You can request an appointment at any time – or you will otherwise be notified if a provider would like to meet before a prescription can be rewritten. If your renewal has been approved, we will let you know via text or email. Also: if you’re on compounded medication and moving up in dosage, you will be prompted to confirm if you are okay with the increase in medication cost and if it is okay to charge your payment method on file.

Can I return my weight loss medication?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns of prescription products for reuse or resale, and all sales are final. However, if you feel we have made an error in the filling of your prescription, please contact us.

Why do you need a picture of my ID and a separate picture of my face?
Your doctor or nurse practitioner will need to confirm your identity before treating you via telemedicine. In order to confirm your identity, two photos are required:
  1. A photo of your government-issued ID where your first & last name, photo, date of birth, and expiration date are visible.
  2. A clear photo of your face. Sunglasses, hats, or other facial obstructions can not be in the photo.
We’ll use these photos only to confirm that the pictures match each other. If you have any questions about how to upload your photos, please contact LifeMD customer support.
